It was lovely to be able to relax and enjoy the day - both staff and students participated.

Here are two video montages of the geography fieldtrip and art trip to the Vejer. These were both for year 10 students. Who says learning can't also be enjoyable!

Departments have been rewarding their students for hard-work, effort and dedication as well as academic success. Art, maths, science, French, geography, history, drama/dance, business studies and food gave out awards together with some of our yearly awards.

Maths
A number of students attained a number of awards in the UK Mathematical Trust challenge.

Additionally, Salvador Zibilm was awarded the Jenise Payas award for maths. This is awarded to the pupil who has progressed the most in mathematics.

History
The History Department run the Friends of Gibraltar Heritage Award for pupils in Year 7. They entered projects about the Jubilee and the Falkland's War which saw it's 40th anniversary this year.

Geography
The ​Alistair Beanland Award for the best geographer in Year 8 was awarded to Viraj Nagrani.

Science
The science department gave an award to a member of each class in Key Stage 3. They rewarded a number of things: effort, attainment, improvement and dedication.

Modern Foreign Languages (French)
The MFL department awarded their prizes for this last term:

Business Studies
​​Quentin McGlashan from year 10 was awarded a prize for his entrepreneurial skills.

Dance/drama
Nathan Villaba from year 11 was given a special award for his incredible contribution to both drama and dance at Bayside. Nathan is an incredible dancer and he has helped the school promote the subject amongst our male students. He has been an incredible role model for all our younger students. Well done!

Food
Our food department completed their Masterchef wall and have displayed images of all these years winners! Well done!

Lee Figueras Award
Lee Figueras was a Bayside student who died in 1995 in a motorcycle accident. He is remembered as being an incredibly pleasant student who wanted to do well and always tried his best. He found academic studies difficult but he always tried his best. His English teacher Mary Chiappe never forgot him and she started this award in his memory. It is awarded each year to a student who has overcome diversity to succeed in education. Success is not measured in academic grades but in effort and determination.

This year the award was shared and awarded to Aiman Lamroussi and Adam Temsamani both in year 12.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the Diaz Cup and the first time that we have played the finals in the new school. 

We kept it fairly low key as we are planning a bigger event later on in the year. We had teams from years 7, 8 and 9 compete for the football finals and teams from years 7, 8, 9 and 10 competing in the netball finals. We had some mixed teams in both sports in years 7 and 8 in both sports which was fun to watch.

Each session finished with a teachers' match. There was a very competitive football match and a very entertaining netball match as we watched some of our male teachers giving the sport a try. All in all a very fun day.
