GCSE, AS and A2 Levels June 2021

1/20/2021

The exam boards are conducting a consultation process on the proposals for GCSEs, AS and A Levels in June 2021.
You can see  these proposals and are able to give feedback via the link at the bottom of this post.

A quick summary of the main proposals for:
GCSEs, AS and A Levels
  • a student’s grade in a subject will be based on their teacher’s assessment of the standard at which they are performing based on areas of content they have studied
  • teachers will draw on a range of evidence of a student’s work in making their final assessment
  • the final assessment will be made towards the end of the academic year, at about the time students would have taken their exams
  • exam boards will provide guidance and training, and make available a set of papers for teachers to use with their students as part of their assessment

The consultations close on 29 January 2021 and we encourage teachers, students and parents to give feedback on the GCSE/A Level

Please refer to the Government’s press release which explains when schools will be open and the principles for learning.

In Bayside your children will be set work by their class teachers via Google Classroom as from Monday 11th January. This applies to ALL year groups, not just our examination classes.
  • The students will follow their timetable and therefore will receive the work at their lesson time each day, wherever possible.
  • They should already have joined all their Google Classroom pages but in any case we will be posting the codes on the year information pages before Monday.
  • The teachers will be available to answer questions between 0900-15.30 each day. They will, as much as reasonably possible, follow the structure of their timetabled lessons.
  • Please bear with your teachers during this period. Don’t forget that they are each responsible for 150 students and a number of them are isolating.
Our pastoral team will be reaching out to our pupils and can be contacted via their individual emails or the respective Google Classroom pages for each year group.
Any other enquiries should be sent to enquiries@baysideschoolgibraltar.gi and we will be providing any further updates via our website and Twitter.
