Special Educational Needs Department (SEND)
The SEN department is dedicated to ensuring that every learner, regardless of their individual learning needs, receives the support they require to succeed. We work closely with learners, parents, teachers and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and academic progress.
Our department uses a strategic approach to learner led provision, allowing the learner to be at the forefront of their learning support plan. We uphold the ethos that every learner has the potential to thrive and our goal is to help provide the tools to allow them to achieve their full potential.
Outlined below are our SEND practices which guide our provision within Bayside School:
● A three tier approach to intervention
● Individual provision mapping
● Full year 7-11 LSF curriculum with a tailored options pathway and flexible integration into mainstream
● Small group and 1:1 intervention within the SEND hub
● Access Arrangements
● SPLD (specific learning difficulties) assessments and support
● Internal and external referrals
● Promote an atmosphere of inclusion within the school
