This course is ideal for students passionate about working with children or interested in understanding how children grow and develop. Students explore the fundamentals of a child’s development from conception through their early childhood in an engaging and practical way. This course is ideal for students who aspire to work in education, healthcare, social care, childcare or any field that involves supporting children and families.
Through a combination of theoretical knowledge, observations and hands-on activities, students will explore key aspects of child development. They will learn about the stages of development from conception to early childhood, focusing on physical, intellectual, and emotional milestones. The course also covers health and wellbeing, the role of different health professionals during pregnancy and early childhood and examines factors such as nutrition, family dynamics and community influences on a child’s growth. Additionally, students will develop practical childcare skills, including designing developmental activities, planning nutritious meals, and ensuring safety in childcare settings.
