STUDENT COUNCIL
We are pleased to announce that the Student Council is now up and running. Following a series of presentations by senior students to students in Years 8 to 11, elections were held for Year Councils. Two students from each form were elected. At an initial meeting of each Year Council, two members were then elected to hold the post of Chairman and Secretary. These individuals will also represent their Year in the full School Council which will meet for the first time early this term.
There will obviously be a lot of work to do in the initial stages to ensure that the Council works smoothly and effectively. In the longer term, it is hoped that the Council will provide an invaluable source of advice, ideas and energy so that Bayside can develop and improve for the benefit of both students and staff.
The setting up of the Council has already involved many hours of hard work by a number of people. Thanks must go to several of our Year 13 students who produced an excellent PowerPoint presentation and spoke with authority and enthusiasm. Above all, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to our Deputy Head Boy, Dhiraj Nagrani, who has been tireless in his determination to ensure that the Council would finally see the light of day.
We intend to provide regular website updates on the development and work of the Council so watch this space!
